Raised in the small northern town of Kitimat, BC, I developed a deep appreciation for this beautiful world: the mountains, the oceans and the rivers that surrounded me.
Eventually, circumstance (and love) brought me to beautiful Vancouver. After a 4-year stay, my husband and I were fortunate enough to move to Quesnel where we raised our two sons and lived for 34 years. Our desire to experience the vast beauty of the Cariboo region, led us to camping and exploring the back roads looking for the perfect fishing hole.
In my early career I worked in office administration, but once my husband and I had children, I chose to stay home. During this time, I studied, became certified and opened my own home business: an out-of-school day care centre.
This amazing adventure allowed me to discover where my passion was: creating afternoons filled with various activities for the children, working closely with the parents, and creating detailed itineraries for afternoon trips.
When my sons went to secondary school, they became involved the band program. On several occasions their band traveled out of town to attend competitions and I found myself drawn to a new passion – travel! I was thrilled when the band teacher turned to me to ensure the flights, hotels, transportation and activities were all taken care of. When the youngest of my sons graduated and left home, I knew there would be a hole to fill. And there was.
It was my husband who suggested that I take another leap into the unknown and follow my travel inspired passion. I took an online program in Travel and Tourism and graduated with highest honors. In 2008, this led to an apprenticeship at a storefront travel agency in Quesnel and in no time at all I was a full-time travel agent. I haven’t looked back.
After working there for 6 years, my boss retired and closed his agency. Still passionate about working in the travel industry, I leapt one more time and opened my own home-based agency, Quesnel Escapes Travel Services, in 2014.
In January 2018, with my husband’s retirement and relocation looming, I re-branded my agency. So, here I am today, Owner of Wishbook Vacations and Tours in beautiful Penticton, BC.
Having a deep love for my church and my faith has taught me integrity, honesty, humility and sincerity. These are the basis for all I do in both my personal and professional life.
